TITANIC WRECK

Titanic Wreck: The wreck of the Titanic is captured in this amazing Titanic wreck footage of startling clarity.

When the world's most impressive ship set sail from Southampton docks on 10th April 1912 everyone on board knew they were part of history, but none could imagine for what reason. Within days the liner was at the bottom of the Atlantic ocean taking two thirds of those on board to their deaths, the majority of whom died from hypothermia in the ice laden sea.

Since that time the Titanic has continued to hold a fascination for many, despite, in reality, its wreck being a sea grave for 1517 of those who perished. The wreck was discovered on 1st September 1985 and since that time many salvage expeditions have recovered artefacts from it, however, in doing so, damage is being done to the hull, with some scientists expecting the Titanic to collapse in on itself within the next half century.

This amazing video footage of the wreck of the Titanic was taken by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution's Advanced Imaging and Visualization Laboratory team and shows the bow of the Titanic in startling clarity.
