Russian Fires: Video footage of the Russian fires of 2010 that swept across central Russia during the hottest summer for hundreds of years.

As the capital of Russia, Moscow, swelters under the hottest summer since records began 130 years ago, areas of central Russia, provinces such as Voronezh and Nizhny Novgorod were fighting some of the worst fires known with dozens dead and hundreds of thousands involved in the infernos.

Attempts to keep the fires under control are being hampered by strong winds, which is expected to drive the smoke over Finland shortly,  and the soaring temperatures make even getting close the the fires almost impossible. The thick smoke is also adversely affecting the young and vulnerable.
